Overcoming Fear Factors

Standing on the edge of a treacherous Alaskan mountain peak, I feared for my safety and questioned whether we should continue. My sons and I had been hiking for hours, and the 1,000-foot descent looked impossible. But after a night of rest, we decided to move forward with caution, carefully navigating the rocky slope and snowy banks.

This fear reminded me of my own struggles with fear in everyday life, particularly in sharing my faith. During my first mission trip, I was terrified to share the gospel with a hot-tempered boss, but I moved from fear to faith, trusting God would give me the courage to speak. Although the conversation was brief, I felt God’s strength guiding me.

Isaiah 41:10 promises, “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you.” Moving from fear to faith in difficult situations opens doors to experiencing God’s power and glory in new ways. Fear will always be present, but trusting God allows us to step into His plan with courage and confidence.
